Explore letter and number recognition and learn the names of animals with this multi game app. There are two levels so children can be challenged further as their knowledge grows.
As a Junior Explorer or Ace Adventurer, preschoolers can learn and practice letter, number and animal recognition, matching and following directions. The fun and quirky Giraffe prompts and encourages kids as they solve the problems in the games and activities. Junior Explorers get more visual cues, while Ace Adventurers receive verbal cues only.
Instead of teaching letters and numbers through flashcards, preschool players are asked to find a specific letter or number from a group of six on screen. The "Junior Explorer" option will show the letter or number on its own before the selection screen with the six choices. Also included are games of finding a specific animal among a jumble of animals. Also included is a game of putting cartoon animals on a jungle background and then "taking a picture" of the collage and saving it to the photo album.
Go to the zoo and take a clip board with you. When you find each animal draw a picture of the animal and where it lives. Talk to mummy and daddy about what the animal is called and how it's name is written. (you might need some help writing this name - watch how mummy or daddy writes it!) What is the first letter name and sound?
Practice the same skills on paper when away from the app. With the app, sound out the letters and words to include an element of phonics.
Point out letters on signage and product labels in supermarkets. Play a game where they earn "points" for finding as many of one letter as possible during one supermarket trip.
