“Sentence building, choosing verbs, adjectives and modifiers to find the correct answer. ”

In Sentence Builder, you first look at a picture (e.g., a cartoon cow standing in front of purple tulips). Slot machine reels above have a series of words (e.g. them/thing/those/flowers/birds/cows, are/if/fell, pretty/animal/water) that you can roll into place to make a sentence. Put together the right words to make a sentence that describes the picture and you hear the app read the sentence for you. The goofy animations and funny praise for learners make this an engaging experience for kids, and parents will like the fairly comprehensive performance review feature. The app features three levels of difficulty, so your young learner will be consistently challenged.

Family Activities

Explore sentences on car journeys. Find a scene and ask your child to describe it. Take it in turns, making sentences longer as abilities develop.

Create a story with your child by building on each other’s sentences. Start by explaining to your child that you’re going to create a story and lay down the rules – each of you can only contribute one sentence at a time and you each have to take turns. See how creative and silly you can both be! To help build your child’s memory, repeat the story from the beginning before adding a new line to it.

Parents and kids can work with different combinations from choices for discussion of language, the rules, and purpose
