Well-designed exercises for math (addition and subtraction) and spelling (complete the word and sight words). Performance on the activities awards coins which can be spent in a virtual store to buy clip-art objects to paste in a series of landscapes (farm, seaside, etc). This is highly motivating and children will start up this app without prompting. Contains an internal reporting system listing which questions the child has attempted and passed.
Family Activities
The spelling and sight word exercises don't spell out the words. Until this feature is integrated in the app, spell out the words audibly for your child. Once your child has answered a question, cover the screen and repeat or rephrase the question (i.e. "What's the first letter of 'cat'?" or "How do you spell 'dog'?"). Away from the app point out vocabulary items from the app in every day life and prompt the spelling.
